Volotea Cuts €1.65M yearly in Fuel Costs Using Flight Path Optimization

Katowice, Poland – 18.08.2026

Volotea selected StorkJet’s FlyGuide Flight Path Optimization (FPO) tool following extensive testing and proven fuel savings. The goal: improve operational efficiency and enhance pilots’ situational awareness with smart, data-driven support.

And the results? €1.65 million in fuel savings over a year – clear proof it was the right call. This translated into approximately 4 000 tonnes of avoided CO₂ emissions.

Pilot adoption has been strong across the airline, with over 89% of pilots retrieving FPO in their daily operations, making FlyGuide FPO a trusted tool in the cockpit.

This EFB app is designed by pilots for pilots, delivers cost-optimal speed and altitude recommendations for all flight phases – climb, cruise, and descent. Its visual interface helps pilots understand how trajectory decisions affect fuel use and overall efficiency.

“Pilots appreciate tools that are clear and helpful, and FlyGuide FPO delivers exactly that.” – confirms Juha Aramo, Flight Operations Senior Advisor. “It supports their decisions, provides timely data, and quickly proved its value in everyday operations. Working with StorkJet gives us confidence that we are always using the most advanced fuel efficiency solutions on the market.”

Powered by real-time and post-flight data and advanced machine learning, the system continuously refines aircraft performance models and identifies new savings opportunities. Its core strengths – high precision, transparency, and actionable insights – support pilots in evaluating alternatives and making informed decisions effortlessly.

FlyGuide FPO respects flight path constraints managed by OCC and Flight Ops, ensuring seamless integration into daily operations. Stakeholders across the airline benefit from usage analytics and feedback thanks to deep data integration.

“Since 2022, Volotea has been a strong partner. We are proud to help their pilots reduce fuel costs and improve flight efficiency with a tool that has proven its value in supporting smarter flying”, said Renata Niedziela, CEO of StorkJet.

We are happy that the cooperation continues and expands, and we’re excited to explore new opportunities ahead.
